McDonalds Marketing Tricks
When the phrase “fast-food establishment” is pronounced, what comes first to your mind? Of course, McDonalds. This global network has flooded all major cities. Despite the fact that many people are in favor of healthy food, and it’s kind of fashionable to eat right now, in McDonald’s institutions it’s not overcrowded. But the food there, though tasty, is far from being the most healthy and healthy.
McDonald’s marketing is recognized as one of the toughest and most effective at the same time. All the marketing tricks that McDonalds uses are thought out to the smallest detail, which forces visitors to this institution to behave exactly as its owners need.
The first thing that catches the eye inside this place is a constant, endless stream of visitors. People crowd at the checkout, scurrying around with trays between tables. And it seems that this movement of people happens all the time, akin to a perpetual motion machine. With what help thought-out marketers of the famous catering chain were able to achieve such results?
1. The furniture layout system.
In McDonald’s, the furniture is placed as inconvenient as possible for visitors. Tables and chairs are very close to the neighbors, as a result of which the personal space of a person is disturbed. It also makes it difficult to pass between the tables: in order to get to the free table, it is necessary to literally squeeze between the other tables, dodging random strikes with trays and elbows of other people who are also looking for free space.
When you finally sat down and started to eat, you do not leave a feeling of discomfort due to the huge crowd of people around you and the crampedness. Unconsciously, each visitor will strive to quickly finish the meal and leave. And McDonald’s need it, because their goal is to serve as many customers as possible. After leaving, you make room for other visitors who sit at the table, just like you, leave it as soon as possible.
2. Inconvenient furniture.
McDonald’s marketing tricks The furniture in McDonald’s is not the most convenient. It is rather practical – usually made from materials that are easy to clean. It seems that the customers didn’t think about the comfort at all: the chairs are hard and not very comfortable, and in some places the height of the tables and chairs is so unsuitable that after a certain period of time the back hurts.
All this was done with the same purpose – to force the customer to buy food, quickly eat it and leave the institution, making room for the following people who want to eat fast food. However, some still manage to spend at McDonalds for quite a long time, but this is due primarily to the availability of free wi-fi in all establishments.
3. Musical accompaniment.
As we noted, music does not play at all points of McDonalds. However, where there is – it is usually fast and rhythmic. Vigorous musical accompaniment makes us perform current actions faster, in this case it is chewing food. All this also happens on a subconscious level.
Have you noticed in one of McDonalds playing slow and quiet music? Even so, this is clearly an administration flaw 🙂 After all, it is much more beneficial for them that visitors unconsciously speed up, and not the other way around.
4. Deadline order fulfillment.
Cashiers sellers are taught to work with the speed of the bunny energyizer. The organization of orders operates on a conveyor system: one passed, the next one immediately approached, and so on. Cashiers must serve one customer for no more than one minute, and this is the rule for all employees. For the slowness of the head will not stroke, because the lost minutes – these are lost customers who are tired of waiting, and they will go to the nearest cafe.
Phrases that cashiers communicate with visitors, learn by heart. This sometimes gives the impression that you are not communicating with a person, but with a robot seller.
5. Half an hour to eat.
Some McDonald’s points in the United States completely allow themselves the audacity to rush a visitor if he has been sitting at a table for more than 30 minutes. We do not know how common this practice is, however, sometimes a security guard can approach and hurry a client if he is inside the institution (in particular, sitting at the table) for more than half an hour.
6. Free internet.
One of the effective tricks to attract customers is the presence of free wi-fi access points. And it really attracts many – you can often notice people working for laptops or buried in a smartphone.
