Business under sanctions

Sanctions. Someone sees this phenomenon as extremely negative, but is it really that bad? Food sanctions, that is, a ban on the import of certain goods from abroad, have caused such a thing as import substitution. Products that were previously imported from the west should now be replaced with similar ones, but of domestic production.

Among economists, there is often the opinion that import substitution should have been done a couple of decades ago in order to provide the country with goods of its own production and create new jobs that are always lacking. Why we did not do this before, we will not argue. Now the question is more relevant: is it possible to build a small business in terms of sanctions? We answer: you can! The sanctions business will be held on the fact that the niches of the market that have become free from foreign producers need to be filled by someone, and just a small and medium business is ideal for this. What is worth doing to extract maximum benefit from the sanctions?

Business ideas in terms of sanctions
Fast food with russian food
Perhaps some of you remember that in the Soviet Union, too, was fast food. Only there they were not selling hot dogs and hamburgers, but sandwiches and dumplings, and such establishments were called “Diners”. Admittedly, they enjoyed a good popularity. What prevents to open a similar Russian fast food now? The cost of production of sandwiches, dumplings, soups, pancakes and other our native food is very low, and you can arrange the institution rather modestly, without restaurant decor and frills.

Be sure to visit such fast food will be no less than Burger King or McDonalds, and more often. After all, the price of one dinner at McDonald’s will be two, or maybe three dinners at a Russian diner. And if American fast foods will soon be completely covered up (anything can happen in modern realities), then people simply have no choice.

Cheese production

Cheese is loved and consumed in almost every family. But the sanctions also affected this product – it is not imported from abroad now. Interestingly, the elite French and Italian cheeses are mainly produced in small industries, and even very small ones. To organize such production in our country is not difficult. Such a business idea is especially relevant for those regions whose climate is most similar to the climate of Southern Europe.

Thermal imaging equipment
All thermal imaging devices previously arrived in Russia only from abroad. Domestic production, if there was a place to be, then on an insignificant scale. But the areas of its application are quite wide – construction, medicine, engineering, metallurgy. If you set a goal, then you can without any problems begin a cost-effective production of such equipment. Demand it will definitely use.

Production of fish feed
Red fish, which because of the sanctions disappeared from the store shelves, but soon returned to domestic production and much more expensive – this is a separate story. From the position of small business in this area, the production of compound feed is more interesting. Previously, they were purchased in the same place where the fish itself – mostly in Norway. Norwegian food quality, but still too expensive for many Russian owners of fish farms. If you find a way to produce feed for fish in a lower price category, you will definitely be in the black.

Milk farm
Milk is a product consumed by our people in an incredible amount. Before the sanctions came into force, 80% of the milk on our shelves was from abroad. Just think how much its accessibility has decreased for the population and what profits you can get if you start your dairy production. And besides the milk itself, you can also produce cottage cheese, sour cream, butter and other dairy products, which in any case will always be in demand.

Elite schools

Access to education abroad is now closed to many officials. And they used to teach their children only in the best, elite educational institutions. Of course, opening an elite school for children or expensive business courses is a slow and rather complicated process. Nevertheless, in the conditions of sanctions such a business becomes very, very promising.

Cattle farm
Particular attention should be paid to the production of beef. Our country has always been much more profitable to buy imported beef for sale to the population than to produce it independently. In connection with the current situation, the cost of meat has increased significantly, and now not every Russian can afford a piece of roast beef for dinner. By producing beef on domestic farms, you can sell it at an affordable price for most consumers.
